Newcastle Golf Club

Located in Fern Bay, New South Wales, Newcastle Golf Club is a premier links-style course established in 1915. The course layout was significantly shaped by the work of Eric Apperly, who oversaw the design transition to its current site, which officially opened for play in 1937.

Course Characteristics

The 18-hole championship course plays to a par of 72. It is renowned for its natural topography, situated on a sand-based coastal site. This geological foundation provides the course with its characteristic firm surfaces and excellent natural drainage. The greens are traditionally constructed and are primarily composed of bentgrass, while the fairways feature a mix of couch grass.

Facilities

The club provides comprehensive practice amenities, including a driving range, practice putting greens, and dedicated short-game areas. The clubhouse facilities include a restaurant, bar, and changing rooms, alongside a fully stocked pro shop that offers trolley and buggy hire for members and visitors.
