Club Spotlight Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia

Newcastle Golf Club

Located in the suburb of Fern Bay, Newcastle Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course established in 1915. The layout is widely recognised as a premier example of Australian coastal bushland golf. The original course design was influenced by the work of Eric Apperly, with the layout integrated into the natural undulating terrain of the region.

Course Characteristics

The course features a par 72 configuration. The site is defined by its sandy soil base, which provides natural drainage characteristics that allow for year-round playability. The fairways are lined with native flora, which creates a distinct character specific to the coastal landscape of New South Wales.

The club maintains a full range of practice facilities, including a practice fairway, putting greens, and dedicated short-game areas. The clubhouse provides dining and bar services, alongside comprehensive changing facilities and a pro shop for equipment and apparel. Buggy and trolley hire services are available for members and visitors.
