Bandon Dunes: The Soul of American Links Golf

Perched atop the rugged cliffs of the Southern Oregon coast, Bandon Dunes is more than a destination; it is a pilgrimage. Since its opening, the club has redefined the American golf experience by stripping away the artificial and returning to the raw, wind-swept essence of the game.

History and Design

Conceived by Mike Keiser and brought to life by architect David McLay Kidd, the original Bandon Dunes course opened in 1999. It was designed to mimic the ancient links of Scotland and Ireland, utilizing the natural sand dunes and coastal gorse. The firm, fast turf and unpredictable Pacific winds provide a test that demands creativity rather than just raw power.

The Experience

Stretching over 6,700 yards from the championship tees, the course is designed to be walked. With no carts permitted, golfers are encouraged to hire a caddie, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the dramatic elevation changes and panoramic ocean views that define the Oregon coastline. Beyond the fairways, the resort features world-class practice facilities and the iconic Punchbowl putting course.
